FANNIN SWCD HOLDS RECEPTION FOR NEW STATE BOARD MEMBER

 On July 19, 2005, The Fannin Soil and Water Conservation District hosted a reception to honor Mr. Joe L. Ward as the new At Large Director of the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board of Directors. In 2003 when the 78th Texas Legislature passed State Bill 1828, which gave the governor authority to appoint two members to the TSSWCB, the Fannin Soil and Water Conservation Board recommended Mr. Ward. They felt that he would be a great asset to the State Board and an excellent advocate of Fannin County. Mr. Ward was appointed by Governor Perry to serve a two-year term. Governor Perry also appointed Mr. Larry Jacobs from Montgomery County to serve on the state board. As of this writing, Mr. Ward has attended State Board Meetings all around the state and the 65th Annual State Meeting of Texas Soil and Water Conservation District Directors, which took place in Corpus Christi on October 23 and 24.

Mr. Ward thanked everyone for their support and confidence and stated that he was honored to be representing Fannin County on the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board of Directors.
Approximately one hundred well-wishers came by to congratulate Mr. Ward on his appointment.
Immediately after the reception, Mr. Ward and his wife Sandra left for Temple, TX so that he could attend his first board meeting.

 

Assisting the Fannin SWCD with hosting the reception was members of the Fannin County 4-H Forestry Team. Aleha, Micala, Melody (Team Leader), and Erin Michaud along with Katerina Brinlee (not shown). They prepared and served delicious refreshments on a tastefully decorated table done in. a Texas motif.
