2005 FANNIN COUNTY HAY SHOW and Forage Tour

The Fannin Extension Beef & Forage Committee, Fannin Soil & Water Conservation District, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Fannin County Texas Cooperative Extension sponsored the Fannin County Hay Show and tour on October 18, 2005 beginning at the Fannin County Extension Office.  We had several events and programs during the day of the show for area hay producers, farmers, and ranchers.  The events included a forage tour, hay judging contest, and lecture programs dealing with forage and hay production.

Hay samples were judged on forage quality by Jeff Tietz, the Hay and Forage Manager for the Allen Ritchey Dairy.

Two CEU’s for private applicators were offered for attending the Hay Show on October 18th.  The forage tour included Max Q Fescue and Alamo Switchgrass at the Larry Smith Ranch and Tifton 85 Hybrid Bermudagrass at the Jerry Chambers Farm.
