2007 Fannin County Hay Show and Fall Forage Tour.
The Fannin County Extension Beef and Forage Committee cooperating with the Fannin Soil and Water Conservation District are hosting a Hay Show and Forage Tour October 4, 2007 at the Fannin County Extension Office.
The program will begin at 2:30 p.m. with a bus tour of Fannin County forages. We will be traveling to several sites looking at, and discussing several different forages and their growth habits and suitable growing areas. At 5:30 p.m., we will return to the Courthouse Annex auditorium for a meal sponsored by the Fannin Soil and Water Conservation District through a grant from the Lennox Foundation
Tour and Meal is by reservation only and seating is limited. Please RSVP by September 28, for tour and meal to Extension Office; 903-583-7453 or Fannin SWCD; 903-583-9513 x3. The evening program will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. James Locke and Evan Whitley with the Noble Foundation will interpret hay, forage results, and discuss supplemental feeding,
Randy Moore, District Conservationist, USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service will discuss the 2008 Farm Bill program (EQIP) that assist with grass planting, brush control and fencing. The program will end with Hay show results. 2 CEU”S will be offered for the days events.
The winning samples will be displayed during the Fannin County Fair at the Fannin Extension Beef and Forage Booth.
